Dominoes Divination

The oldest domino sets as we know them date from around 1120 AD and appear to be a Chinese invention. It is believed they were derived from cubic dice, which had been introduced into China from India some time in the distant past. The dominoes are used as a method of predicting the future by the gypsies and in China and Korea today.

The Western name for dominoes may derive from its black on white appearance. 'Domino' is the French word for a Christian priest's winter hood which was black on the outside and white on the inside. 'Domino' is also a style of mask featuring a black and white motif. French prisoners introduced dominoes into England at the end of the eighteenth century.

DOMINO MEANINGS
The basic meanings of the dominoes are:

blank = the querant -- the person asking the question
1 = Travel
2 = Close friends and family
3 = Love
4 = Money
5 = Job and careers
6 = Luck

Each tile takes a meaning from a combination of its two sides as read from left to right on a horizontal tile.
